9 Geeky Musicians You’ve Never Heard Of

2. Miracle Of Sound

A veteran of the nerdy music industry, Gavin Dunne has been pumping out frequent high-quality original songs for years now.

On top of his entirely original albums, his work is based around stylistic music relating to games, films, TV and a hundred other areas of nerdy interest. His style truly is impressive, based in rock but ranging from slow sombre tones to full-on metal tracks, with influences from whatever corner of the world is relevant to the song's subject.

From western influences with Red Dead Redemption, to high fantasy influences in the style of Lord of the Rings in his work relating to Skyrim, to Celtic influences when dealing with Grainne Mhaol and other figures of Irish cultural history, Dunne's flexibility as an artist is a testament to his hard work and skill.

Almost exclusively vocal (though with some hauntingly good instrumentals, particularly his Vistas album), the thought that goes into the original lyrics of the songs are as impressive as the score they accompany.

Without a doubt, Gavin Dunne is one of the most fundamentally skilled musicians at work in this niche corner of the industry.

My passion for all things Sci Fi goes back to my earliest days, when old VHS copies of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet gripped my tiny mind with their big, noisy vehicles and terrifying puppets. I'd like to say my taste got more refined over the years, but between the Warhammer, Space Dandy and niche Star Wars EU books, perhaps it just got broader. I've enjoyed games of all calibre since I figured out that dice weren't just for eating, and have written prose ever since I was left unsupervised with some crayons next to a white wall. I got away with it by calling it "schoolwork" for as long as I could, and university helped me keep the charade going a while longer. Since my work began to get published, it's made all those long hours repainting the walls seem worth it.
