9 Hidden Details In Beatles Tracks You Never Noticed

6. Ringo's False Start - Dig A Pony

Poor Ringo Starr. He might have been the drummer in the most successful band of all time, but he’s also consistently the butt of everyone’s jokes too, isn’t he? Whether it’s Lennon bashing his skills behind the kit or Family Guy digging him out at every possible opportunity, you’ve got to feel a little bit sorry for Richard Starkey. Not too often of course, bearing in mind that he’s a multi-millionaire and he got to narrate Thomas the Tank Engine, but every now and again.

And you’ve got feel even more sympathetic towards him after hearing the botched beginning of Dig A Pony. Out of the chatter and background bustle that starts the track, somebody pipes up out of the blue with a “1… 2… 3…” only for Ringo to desperately shout “Hold it!!!” just as the rest of the Fab Four hit their first note.

Turns out the drummer had a cigarette in his hand and both of his drumsticks in his other. Cue more chattering while he puts it out, including somebody taking the piss out of Ringo with an impression that sounds an awful lot like Kermit the Frog, before the lads get it right at the second time of asking.
