9 Most Underrated Nirvana Songs
6. Love Buzz
As the band’s first ever single, ‘Love Buzz’ has slowly earned a greater reputation over the decades since its release. Despite this, it is still a generally overlooked tune and only really gets acknowledgement from core grunge fans.
Released in 1989 shortly after the release of Nirvana’s debut album, ‘Bleach’, ‘Love Buzz’ was rejected for airplay by several local and national radio stations. As these were the days before streaming, you relied on radio airplay for exposure and the lack of interest in the single caused it to be swept under the rug at the time.
In two years time however, radio stations could not get enough of Nirvana with tunes such as ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ being absolutely inescapable.
Due to its indie label release and Nirvana’s underground status at the time, only 1200 copies of ‘Love Buzz’ were produced on vinyl. Because of this, ‘Love Buzz’ is now one of the most valuable 7” vinyls in all rock music, with some copies selling for as much as $2,800 (£2,138).
