9 Most Underrated Nirvana Songs

5. Lounge Act

Classing any song from Nirvana’s breakthrough 1991 album, ‘Nevermind’, as underrated may be slightly controversial, but ‘Lounge Act’ suffers from the age old issue of being drowned out by the competition. When the album tracks around it included ‘In Bloom’, ‘Drain You’ and basically every other famous Nirvana song apart from ‘Heart-Shaped Box’, it’s easy to see why ‘Lounge Act’ struggles to receive its fair share of exposure.

‘Lounge Act’ earns distinction from its fellow ‘Nevermind’ songs with a surprisingly crisp and polished delivery compared to Nirvana’s usual fuzzy, murky style.

Following themes of jealousy, love and insecurities in relationships, ‘Lounge Act’ was written by Kurt about his ex-girlfriend, Bikini Kill’s Tobi Vail.

Sadly, this song and the band it's about are both massively underrated in today’s estimation of rock music, with ‘Lounge Act’ losing out to fellow ‘Nevermind’ tunes, while Bikini Kill are one of the 90’s most overlooked punk groups.
