9 Rock Bands Who Hate Their Own Famous Songs
8. Cane Hill - French 75
As a song that sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of Cane Hill's back catalogue, it isn't hugely surprising to learn that the band absolutely hate this song.
Founded in 2011, the Louisianan alternative metal band have wasted no time in excelling towards the upper reaches of the sub-genre. Building an impressive reputation in their local scene through a string of booming live shows, Cane Hill capitalised on their hype with the release of a self-titled debut EP in 2015, shortly after signing with Rise Records. Comprised of seven songs, this compact, concise and crushing release blew metal fans away on an international scale with its fresh, fiery sound.
However, song number five, 'French 75', seemed like it had been left on the final mix of the EP by accident, as it adopted an almost alien style compared to the other six devastating tracks. Deviating from the brutal basslines and vicious vocals, 'French 75' was a warped alternative track with a much calmer focus. It seems the band weren't too keen on the song from day one, and their opinions haven't improved much since.
'French 75' is the butt of many jokes from the Cane Hill fanbase, who are generally encouraged by the band's open begrudgement and ridiculing of the song. Cane Hill do not play 'French 75' live and take any opportunity possible to distance themselves from this avoidable outlier.
