9 Rock Bands Who Hate Their Own Famous Songs
7. Paramore - Misery Business
While other bands on this list simply hate their songs because they are horrifically overplayed and steal the spotlight from their other releases, Paramore's relationship with 'Misery Business' is much more complicated.
Featuring on the Tennessee based band's second studio album, 'Riot!', 'Misery Business' remains the group's most well-known song, despite tough competition being offered up by 'That's What You Get', 'Still Into You' and 'Ignorance'.
Released as the lead single for 'Riot!' in 2007, this single spearheaded what would become the band's breakthrough album, setting up the foundations for a phenomenally successful career which is still going strong today. However, Paramore pulled the song from their live setlist in 2018, saying that the lyrics were "anti-feminist" and that "it shouldn’t be used to promote anything having to do with female empowerment or solidarity".
After spending four years on the shelf, the band's biggest hit made a surprise return to the world of live music on 2nd October 2022 for their show in California. Even though the song is back in action, the controversy surrounding the nature of the lyrics persists.
