9 Rock Bands Who Hate Their Own Famous Songs

4. The Who - Pinball Wizard

As the undisputed faces of the mod-rock movement, The Who are without doubt one of the most famous and influential bands of all time. Famous tunes of theirs include 'My Generation', 'Baba O'Riley', 'Behind Blue Eyes' and the song in question here, 'Pinball Wizard'.

The Who originally formed in 1964 and are currently on their fifth stint as an active band following break-ups in 1983, 1985, 1991 and 1997. Despite their unimaginable success over the past six decades, founding member Pete Townshend has expressed his grievances towards their 1969 hit. Townshend admitted that he only wrote 'Pinball Wizard' to gain favourable reviews from music critics and said he was "embarrassed" to have written it.

In an interview years later, Townshend said his initial reaction to writing the song was "Oh my God, this is awful". Adding to Townshend's impatience and hatred towards the song is the fact it's been featured in almost every live show by The Who for the past 50 years. If Deaf Havana got sick of 'Friends Like These' after two years, just imagine how The Who feel after 50.
