9 Rock Bands Who Hate Their Own Famous Songs
1. Radiohead - Creep
It's unlikely that anyone reading this is surprised to learn which song occupies the top spot on this list. Like many bands who have appeared thus far, Radiohead's frustration with 'Creep' tends to stem from the fact it sponges attention away from their other songs, which in the band's eyes are just as good, if not better.
'Creep' hasn't been a regular feature of Radiohead live shows since 1997, with the song making less than a dozen setlist appearances in the last 25 years. When questioned about the song by fans, Yorke simply replied "F*ck off, we’re tired of it" during the press run for 'OK Computer' in 1997. In response to the backlash of refusing to play it, Thom Yorke branded fans who wanted to hear it played live "r*tarded".
Thom Yorke's dislike for the song is so extreme, that he re-released a version of 'Creep' in 2021 which was intentionally bad, in an attempt to make people hate the song as much as he does. Unfortunately for Yorke, his effort was in vain and 'Creep' remains an all-time melancholic classic.
