Alter Bridge: 10 Hidden Song Details You Never Noticed

9. The Writing On The Wall Is About Climate Change

Though not a political band, a lot of The Last Hero is based lyrically around certain themes. Released in late 2016, with the writing process taking place continually through much of the previous year or two, the album took a lot of inspiration from the incredibly uncertain, volatile political climate in the US at that time.

The likes of Show Me A Leader and Losing Patience revolve around disillusionment and uncertainty, but not every song took on this meaning. The second track on the album, The Writing On The Wall, focuses on the much different, but even more important issue of climate change.

More specifically, Kennedy's lyrics point the finger at those who are going out of their way to ignore the inevitable and undeniable problem facing the world.

The singer has spoke about this particular track as one of his favourites, including some of the most powerful and passionate lyrics on the album. Those denying the rate of change are to blame for what is happening, and the FACT that the end is coming.
