Alter Bridge: 10 Toughest Tremonti Solos NO ONE Else Can Play

3. Addicted To Pain

One of the heaviest songs on Fortress and probably its most well-known single, 'Addicted to Pain' is perhaps the closest to speed metal that Alter Bridge have ever come. It's likely that Mark Tremonti's solo project's first release the year before had something to do with that.

The impact of this bombastic guitar onslaught is made that much sweeter by a relatively stilted half-time bridge preceding it. After that, it's beautifully melodic heavy metal chaos all the way.

Like many other Alter Bridge solos, this one starts off more understated and then pulls out all the stops in the final stretch. But even in the less shreddy parts, keeping up with the song's hasty tempo while simultaneously giving the part the sheer shrieking majesty it needs is a hefty challenge for even the most practiced guitarists.

Probably goes without saying that if you're dumb enough to have a crack at this solo, you're obviously addicted to pain yourself.
