Alter Bridge: 10 Toughest Tremonti Solos NO ONE Else Can Play
2. Open Your Eyes
Once you hear the band's debut album, One Day Remains, it's quite depressingly obvious to anyone familiar with Creed just how held back Mark was in that band. Yes, his songwriting bagged them massive success and a diamond-certified album, but as Tremonti's real background is in much heavier music, it's nice to see him finally release some of that built-up tension in 'Open Your Eyes'.
The song itself, much like the band members, takes on more of an early 2000s post-grungey vibe. But even in their early days, Alter Bridge made quite a name for themselves on the guitar front.
An impressive falsetto vocal section is followed swiftly by an equally impressive solo, which is tongue-out rock shredding at its finest. The kind that you listen to and think, "how the hell does he even write that, let alone play it?!"
As the first Alter Bridge song this writer was introduced to back in the day, it was clear from the first second of this solo that Tremonti had come a long way from his time in Creed.
