2. Watch Over You
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR4_chcwvoM Every good rock band needs that "Lighters in the air" song, but rather than fall into some overly-crooning 80s-style ballad with a perm-topped guitar solo, Watch Over You has become known as the one where the band steps back, letting Myles take the stage with his acoustic. The 2008 Amsterdam version of this is still the finest by my money, although when the band took to stadiums and recorded their Wembley DVD, the sheer amount of people holding up lighters and cell phones made for a truly enrapturing sight; that of Myles essentially playing to an arena of fireflies. It was amazing. Why you need it: Utilising a tuning previously used by guys like Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones, there's a rich quality to the tone here that subtly pays homage to the greats, before Myles' lyrical delivery and incredibly emotional chorus set up shop in your heart. Written from the perspective of someone passing away and the familial questions that come afterwards from both sides, it's both immensely enjoyable but unbelievably moving depending on your life situation when you first hear it.
