Alter Bridge - Walk The Sky: Every Song Ranked From Worst To Best
5. Take The Crown
When the third single from this album was released, fans were deceived by the first few seconds of the song. The slow, apologetic tone of the intro had the feel of something of a ballad, wonderfully masking the heavy hitting anthem it would soon turn out to be.
On the face of it, the song seems to be about standing up in the face of adversity, overcoming obstacles and achieving goals against the odds, however this is one of the few Alter Bridge songs written about something specific - an unbeatable tee ball team from Myles' youth that the singer was determined to beat next time they came to town.
Despite initially coming from the brain of Myles Kennedy, there is certainly a lot of Tremonti influence in Take The Crown, not least the outro, focusing on just two clean guitars playing for a few bars in a very similar way to how the titular song from Tremonti's Cauterize finishes.
