Alter Bridge - Walk The Sky: Every Song Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Pay No Mind
From the instant it begins, the second single from Walk The Sky is immediately different to anything Alter Bridge have ever done before. Mark Tremonti took inspiration from some John Carpenter-esque synth wave material found online, and found a way to successfully integrate it into the new album.
Such is the band's strict adherence to keeping live shows as true to the studio as possible, Tremonti's guitar tech is brought out to play drummer Scott Phillips' keyboard on stage, lending an incredible depth to the music that the band have never played with before.
As is the case with most Alter Bridge songs, the lyrics are always open to interpretation, as even Mark Tremonti isn't sure what Metalingus is about. Pay No Mind seems that it could almost be a direct response to Indoctrination, only this time from the point of view of the one being manipulated, looking to fight back and break free.
