Alter Bridge - Walk The Sky: Every Song Ranked From Worst To Best
11. Indoctrinate
Indoctrinate is one of the darkest songs on Walk the Sky, which is really saying something. From the slow, deliberate intro from Scott Phillips and the deep, ominous guitar riff, the musical arrangement of this track pairs perfectly with the creepy effect of the harmony between Myles' crushing deep tones and the piercing high notes he is able to reach.
The song soon transcends into the chorus which is incredibly apt, because once you hear Myles Kennedy sing it, it is stuck in your head and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
The subject of the song itself fits with the creepy and almost disturbing backdrop, as Myles, inspired by watching a cult leader on Netflix, tells the story of brainwashing and mind control. What is even stranger is that it is sung from the point of view of the manipulator, almost getting off on inflicting such misery on someone else.
