This track is yet another example of the deep and dark lengths Myles Kennedy can stretch his vocals to. While Tear Us Apart showcases the upper reaches of his abilities, Clear Horizon demonstrates the other side of the spectrum.
In terms of lyrics, tackling feelings of misplaced optimism and ultimately regret, and failure, this song is possibly the darkest on the entire album. With passages like "I bought the dream and it let me down", and "the clear horizon was just out of reach from the start", Alter Bridge offer an insight into the damaged soul of someone who has truly been hurt.
To this end, Clear Horizon feels like it could have been lifted directly from ABIII, which is nothing short of a great compliment, as this is some of the band's most critically acclaimed work to date.
