Amy Winehouse Life Story To Be Told By Senna Director In New Documentary

amy winehouse The controversial life story of Amy Winehouse is to be told in a new documentary film headed by Senna director Asif Kapadia. Focus Features International will be selling the worldwide rights to the doc at next month's Cannes Film Festival. "Amy was a once-in-a-generation talent who captured everyone's attention," Kapadia and producer James Gay-Rees said in a statement. "She wrote and sung from the heart and everyone fell under her spell. But tragically Amy seemed to fall apart under the relentless media attention, her troubled relationships, her global success and precarious lifestyle." This should be an interesting project and one that is in the safe hands of the BAFTA-winning Kapadia. Amy Winehouse was arguably the most important British singer-songwriter of the early 21st century, whose soulful one of a kind voice and incredible eye for scathing lyrics made her a global Superstar. She paved the way for the likes of Adele, Lily Allen and Florence and The Machine to break the States and her seminal Grammy award winning album Back To Black will truly stand the test of time. Unfortunately as we all know, her substance abuse problems lead to her downfall and she died of alcohol poisoning in 2011. But if anyone can tell her story in unflinching terms, but still keep one eye focused on the human being behind all the drama, it is surely Asif Kapadia, whose documentary on the life and times of legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna became a critical darling and a masterpiece of the art form.
