Arctic Monkeys: 10 Essential B-Sides Every Fan Must Hear

5. Joining the Dots

This notion is most noticeable when watching the gorgeous acoustic rendition he performed with John Ashton for WRXP, in which the singer's blossoming voice is presented in all its newfound grace. Aching with melancholy and based around a sweetly simple chord progression, 'Joining the Dots' is a beguiling plea for intimacy, yet one with a darker revelation at its core. Battling the pangs of ennui and lethargy, the protagonist gradually realises that the object of his desires isn't as trustworthy as he once believed her to be. It's an enchanting offering, and the first of three excellent B-sides housed on the 10" release of 'My Propeller', which is possibly the best single-based package that the band have yet released.
