One of the Monkeys' most minimal - and genuinely unique - recordings to date, 'Don't Forget Whose Legs You're On' is notable for its sinister air of mystery. Drawn from a loping drum patter and a staccato piano figure, it's an eerily seductive composition, over which Turner conjures a miasma of strange images. "She had a rock on the throttle / And a brown glass bottle full of shavings from the sun," he whispers, summoning visions of scimitars and phantoms, before Cook's magnificently minimalist guitar motif ushers the song back into the shadows.
