Arctic Monkeys: 10 Essential B-Sides Every Fan Must Hear

4. Don't Forget Whose Legs You're On

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL0Z3Ly0CEw Find it: 'My Propeller' (2010) As mentioned, the 10" vinyl pressing of 'My Propeller' offers four tremendous Arctic Monkeys songs in one neat treasure trove, and 'The Afternoon's Hat' also deserves praise. However, it's bested by the tracks sandwiching it: the aforementioned 'Joining the Dots' and this dark little odyssey. One of the Monkeys' most minimal - and genuinely unique - recordings to date, 'Don't Forget Whose Legs You're On' is notable for its sinister air of mystery. Drawn from a loping drum patter and a staccato piano figure, it's an eerily seductive composition, over which Turner conjures a miasma of strange images. "She had a rock on the throttle / And a brown glass bottle full of shavings from the sun," he whispers, summoning visions of scimitars and phantoms, before Cook's magnificently minimalist guitar motif ushers the song back into the shadows. For anyone who can't get enough of 'I Wanna Be Yours', you'll find something of a precursor here, which is perhaps even superior to AM's closer. Also Try: 'You're So Dark'
