7. Let It Be (1970)
Best Song: Let It Be Worst Song: I Me Mine The album where tensions were high, John and Paul were barely speaking and writing alone, Harrison was feeling left out and frustrated with Paul being too controlling in the studio, and the cherry on top of all the turmoil Yoko was present in the studio at all times giving input on songs driving the rest of the bands mad, the issue was John always wanted her around. In the midst of all the negative vibes the band was filming the recording process of Let it Be for a documentary of the same name. The band went back to go back to basics with a stripped back production similar to in the early days. McCartney's relationship with future wife Linda, was the inspiration behind the album opener "Two of Us". Lennon composed "Across the Universe", a raw love with some Indian lyrics. McCartney was spending more time composing on the piano, but it was a dream that influenced "Let it Be", a song that symbolizes the band breaking up. Desperate to perform live again the band came up with the perfect ending to the album, the Let It Be documentary, and their career as a band. On top of the roof of Apple they performed one last time, a free concert, which passerby's got to witness. Two songs off Let It Be , the pre-fame track One After 909 and the thumping bass album closer Get Back.
