10. Nowhere Man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfWEPu0w-7w Writer: Lennon-McCartney (Lennon) Album: 'Rubber Soul' The first Beatles song to be entirely devoid of all love and romance, 'Nowhere Man' is a thoughtful, mellow number, which shows Lennon pondering his song writing process. McCartney and Harrison's backing vocals are superb, and compliment Lennon's perfectly; some of the group's harmonising at it's very best. The song combines a folkier sound with Harrison's electric guitar solo to astounding effect, a truly fantastic, yet sometimes overlook, Beatles song. 9. Taxman
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqK97av7I3s Writer: George Harrison Album: 'Revolver' Harrison's highly political song about the rising tax in the UK gives us one of The Beatles best bass lines, which would later influence the likes of The Jam, as well as a signature screeching guitar solo from McCartney. Lennon chipped in with the backing vocals of 'Mr. Wilson' and 'Mr. Heath', the leaders of the biggest political parties in the UK at the time. Harrison puts his disdain for these politicians perfectly, in what is perhaps one of the greatest rebellion songs of our time. Protest Rock doesn't get much better than this. 8. Can't Buy Me Love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tq1RKSTQqfQ Writer: Lennon-McCartney (McCartney) Album: 'A Hard Day's Night' While a general interpretation of the seventh track of 'A Hard Day's Night' is the idea of buying someones love through possessions, but some journalists reportedly suggested that McCartney's perky, upbeat number was about prostitution, a claim Paul denied. Accusations aside, 'Can't Buy Me Love' fits in perfectly with the atmosphere of 'A Hard Day's Night'; an atmosphere that shows a band on top of the world, producing some of the catchiest and poppiest songs of all time. 'Can't Buy Me Love' is a song representing the Beatles as the young whippersnappers they were.
