7. Come Together
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axb2sHpGwHQ Writer: Lennon-McCartney (Lennon) Album: 'Abbey Road' Opening with that heavy bass line, light drums and ambiguous vocals, 'Come Together' is the classic 'Abbey Road' track. Chugging along at a steady pace, Lennon's lyrics are often quite obscure, yet also draw from American political campaigns. Harrison's ambient guitar solo reverberates throughout the track, creating a mellow atmosphere, which gives 'Come Together' such aura. Recently covered by Arctic Monkeys at the Olympic Opening Ceremony in 2012, 'Come Together' is perhaps on of the group's best known hits. 6. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqXmBy1_qOQ Writer: Lennon-McCartney (Lennon) Album: 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' A common rumour of 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' is that it was written after Lennon had an LSD trip. Lennon claimed the song was inspired by his son, Julian, painting a picture at school by the same name. Despite this, the BBC still banned the song. The song itself, while not about drugs, still features psychedelic sitar and synth, and the lyrics delve into the deepest realms of Lennon's imagination, conjuring up some weird and wonderful creations. One of the highlights of 'Sgt. Peppers...' 5. Helter Skelter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fvJEpdq8a8 Writer: Lennon-McCartney (McCartney) Album: 'The Beatles' (The White Album) Critics have described 'Helter Skelter' as helping the development of Heavy Metal, something you would not expect from the same group that brought you 'Octopus' Garden'. The guitar run in this song along with Starr's crashing drums shows The Beatles at their most raucous, and adds to the already diverse nature of The White Album. The song is perhaps one of the craziest on the album, what with apparently mad studio antics and four and a half minutes of crazed jams, culminating in: 'I've got blisters on my fingers!'
