Bloodstock Festival 2017: 10 Bands You Must See

6. OHHMS

Replacing all-out speed with psychedelic doom metal, the British OHHMS represents a tonal shift for this list, but that doesn't stop the band from having the potential of being one of Bloodstock's stand-out acts.

Once they grace the Sophie Lancaster Stage on Saturday, 12th August, not only will OHHMS be hot off their lauded, full-length debut The Fool (2017), but also at the start of a slew of high-profile 2017 festival slots, which will include gigs at ArcTanGent, Desertfest Belgium, Void Fest, Mammoth Fest and more.

Like all great doom metal, this band's tunes perpetuate pure, glorious nihilism in dramatic, riff-driven despondency, with their hugely lengthy songs and crawling pace guaranteeing a truly heavy ride to offset the very ready selection of thrash that will be available at this year's Bloodstock.

However, OHHMS will still provide energy and vitality in spades, their perfectly paced rhythms guaranteeing some of the deepest headbanging of the entire weekend, taking cues from such mighty juggernauts as Paradise Lost and Sleep. Lead single "The World" especially cannot afford to be missed, condensing the band's depressive appeal into six minutes of unadulterated excellence.
