Bloodstock Festival 2017: 10 Bands You Must See

4. Decapitated

Hot off releasing one of the best metal records of 2017, Anticult, it's more than safe to assume that Polish technical/death metallers Decapitated will be laying out a truly intense, groove-filled set when they hit Bloodstock's Ronnie James Dio Stage on Friday, 11th August.

With such new anthems as "Earth Scar", "One-Eyed Nation" and "Anger Line" now ready to be stuffed under the band's belts to join complex classics like "Spheres of Madness" and "Post(?)Organic" in the setlist, Decapitated's performance will be one that bridges both tenures of this long-standing, extreme juggernaut.

Anticult more than once calls back to such cult-beloved bands as Carcass, Meshuggah and Gojira in its hints of melody and down-tuned, enormous riffs, adding an even greater possibility of live brilliance for the band than ever before.

One can only imagine the nostalgic brilliance of a progressive cut from a classic record like Nihility (2002) or Organic Hallucinosis (2006) being immediately followed by a modern, rhythm-driven powerhouse such as "Never".

Sure, old-school Decapitated fans who despise the band's more recent output will have a few reasons to roll their eyes, but those that actually adore these European technicians no matter the era will be in for a surefire, and somewhat diverse, treat on Bloodstock's first full day.
