Bruce Springsteen: Ranking His Albums From Worst To Best

4. Tunnel Of Love

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-Q1A58wV54 Year Of Release: 1987 Key Tracks: Brilliant Disguise, Tunnel of Love, Valentine's Day The River is a sensational, classic album and the fact that it doesn't even rank of Bruce's best of the eighties give an indication of the kind of roll he was on back then. Bruce bettered it seven years later with Tunnel of Love, an album that was made during a turbulent time in Springsteen's life. His first marriage to actress Michelle Phillips fell apart after just two years due to the strain of Bruce being on the road for the Born in the USA Tour. Many of the songs on Tunnel of Love express the disappointment, sadness and frustrations of his marriage to Phillips. At no point is this more clear than during the forlorn Brilliant Disguise, a song about never really being able to get to know someone. It was during this period that Bruce also decided to break up the band. Tunnel of Love would be his and the E Street Band's last album together until 2002's The Rising.
