On Main Guitar Wilma, And Getting A Signature Model
S.T: So with the new worldwide dates youll have been doing, I just wanted to ask about the status of your long-time main guitar Wilma, hows she been getting on travelling the world?
J.G: Well the actions raised up just a little bit over the past few months, its just started to sneak up, I think its the weather. Yno you have the heating on in your house and the action is just a bit higher, so Im going to take her to get tweaked soon! Nothing wrong with her though, I still play her every day, but Im actually talking to Lowden Guitars about doing a signature model so thatll be the next thing on the cards. Its going to be a
lot of fun, its funny Ive already had a long conversation with George Lowden, he sent me an email like Do you want to do a signature model? and I said Of course! and then What do you want to do? Heres the options! and then I just talked his ear off for about two hours (laughs) about all my many many different ideas. Its different in the world of acoustic guitars, theres a lot less you can do because structurally the guitar is built to sound a certain way. There is one thing Ive always wanted though. Yno like Nuno Bettencourts Signature Model, with the Stephens Extended Cutaway? Its this weird method of bolting on the neck, where you can play right the way up to the 24th fret, and it feels like theres nothing there. Washburn did make an acoustic version of that cutaway, so Im going to show it to George Lowden and say What about this? but I know what hes going to say already! (laughs) hell just laugh and say No! Thats going to ruin my f*cking guitars! Also Im vegetarian and nobody considers that, so I dont want any Mother of Pearl or Abalone or things like that because Im vegetarian! Well be using vegetarian glue if possible! (laughs)
