Doctor Who: 'An Unearthly Sound' - 11 Best Music Compositions

7. The King's Demons

Doctor Docot Jonathan Gibbs, Peter Howell & Jacob Lindberg. Perhaps not as well known as they should be, but let's change that. The incidental music double act of Gibbs & Howell, alongside lutenist Lindberg, are the men responsible for the period score of ' The King's Demons', and by extension surely one of the best reveals ever as Kamelion (in the guise of Bad King John) shows off a talent for having a bit of a pluck. Even more wonderfully, Gerald Flood (Kamelion's voice/ King John) does all his own singing- is it any wonder the Doctor gets drawn into the intrigue so quickly? Pretty sure I would whether or not a robot was playing, though the fact one is makes it all the more cool. Sadly no Hendrix-style playing it behind his back, setting it on fire or pretending to make sweet love to it, but nonetheless the likes of John Dowland were no doubt looking down, pleased as punch with the progress made since the instrument first came to our shores as an alternative to the Arabic oud, which may also have helped name the singing species of ' new Who' fame. An Ood with an oud. Now there's a thought.
