7. Rival Sons

It feels barely possible that Rival Sons are now six albums deep into their career (or that their latest was somehow recorded in just three weeks), but the blues rockers have a wonderful timelessness that belies their comparative, contradictory youth.

They were chosen to support Black Sabbaths farewell tour for a reason, and their heady mix of the spirit of Led Zeppelin, Free, Bad Company and Deep Purple will leave an incredible mark on the Download crowd.

With sixth album Hollow Bones coming out the day before they play, the timing to see them is perfect.
