Eminem: 10 Best Songs You've Never Heard

9. Despicable

Despicable in name only and utilising the beat from Drake's Over, Eminem exudes his skill in order to show that he himself, just like the sample's namesake, is yet to be over. It's also arguably better developed, more coherently written and more adherent to everything we expect from Eminem than the Recovery album that shortly followed it.

Contrary to the typical sample - and artist - Eminem switches up the beat halfway through, intentionally switching up the flow to show that he's not a rapper, he's an adapter and he can adjust.

Adjudged to be at his most lyrically raw since retiring by most, the short, rapid-fire freestyle eludes to a refined version of the rapper and immediately cemented expectations of his ensuing revival. (Not the album. Definitely not the album.)

Unfortunately, it's since become lodged at the back of the vast, impossible to syphon library of Eminem, and only really remains at the back of minds of most fans too. Outside of the internet of course. It's a shame that slim decided to shift the focus of his freestyles to solely ridiculing the presidential apprentice, as that lacklustre effort - which goes on for an abundance of time - is overwrought with jaded crap, whereas this succinct track perfectly hits all the right notes.
