Eminem: 10 Most Overrated Songs

1. Not Afraid

I'm not afraid, to take a stand.

... Against what exactly? No one knows.

The emptiest, most hollow excuse of a single ever released by Eminem proved that the once revered mastermind of the rude lucrative lyrics can no longer embellish the title or put the youth in hysterics.

Although Crack a Bottle was in actual fact his comeback song, this one was touted as his full return to the mainstream and upon hearing it, if this was all he was bringing to the table going forward, then maybe a hunger strike was starting to look increasingly appealing.

On surface level, the song is clearly an allegory that references at least one aspect of how Eminem's life has been going since his short retirement, but it's never exactly clear what he's eluding to. It doesn't encapsulate a feeling through its overbearing overtones of dramatisation, instead the song really suffers from sounding like it belongs to an early 2000s Marvel movie.

What was clearly supposed to be an effort that packed with impact came across as an exercise in tedium and borderline genericism. Proving that just like sleeping dogs, the giants that bear the same restraint can awaken once again, but sometimes it's best to leave them to rest.
