Eminem: 10 Most Overrated Songs
9. River
If you strip this song of the one element that makes it work, then Ed Sheeran would've missed out on a substantial amount of profit and Eminem would've been left with a song that makes him sound like nothing more than an irredeemable misogynistic !*$% who contradicts himself with every bar. Honestly, the veteran has fewer bars than a decimated prison in this song and his declining skill is very prevalent here.
The incredulous subject of this song alone is enough to turn some people off, or it would be if it was written by a majority of other artists, as Eminem has proven time and time again that he can take the most sinister or sadistic of ideas and turn it into a bonafide hit. He's kind of like the rapping alternative to Trey Parker, but unlike his counterpart, this song - about him forcing a woman to get an abortion - is just offensive with nothing to say.
When he has something that may sound profound or intelligent, he completely debauches the delivery. The listener already knows quite early on just what the song is about and then he undermines and utterly destroys his message with lines like "And you don't f**k with no man's girl, even I know that".
Apparently you don't, Em. That's exactly what you've done and now she's pregnant, you fool.
