Eminem: EVERY Album Ranked Worst To Best
7. Relapse
Eminem thinks this is his worst album, and that hurts. Sporting a bizarre accent throughout the record might not have been the best move, but here's the thing: Relapse is a themed album. His Slim Shady persona is no longer fun and controversial, but murderous and dark. This can be off-putting, but with Eminem's tight raps and some moody beats, it doesn't really matter.
The opening track, 3 AM, is a horrorcore masterclass that perfectly sets the tone of what's to come, and despite songs like My Mom and Insane threatening to derail the whole thing, Relapse is nonetheless a menacing, hypnotising record bursting with interesting concepts. Outside of this dark tone, he was also able to take a step back and bless fans with heartfelt tunes such as Beautiful and Deja Vu.
Relapse was an experiment for the rapper, as he plays with his rhyme schemes and messes around with new approaches to his songwriting, and aside from brief blips it works wonders.
