Standout Lyrical Attack: 'Hailie's getting so big now, you should see her she's beautiful, /but you'll never see her, she won't even be at your funeral' taken from the track 'Cleaning Out My Closet'. What could possibly be more personal than attacking your baby's mother? How about attacking your own mother? It was apparent that Eminem had ill feelings towards his mum from the moment he burst onto the scene with his hit single 'My Name Is', in the record he puts her on blast as a drug addict. Debbie Mathers would reply to the claims by suing her own son on the grounds that he fabricated the truth. However, it was his third mainstream studio album 'The Eminem Show' where the Detroit rapper really got personal about his resentment towards his mother, in which he dedicated a whole song to their broken down relationship. The record label initially planned to release 'White America' as the follow up single to the catchy 'Without Me'. However Mr. Mathers preferred the idea of 'Cleaning Out My Closet' getting radio play, to emphasis his hatred towards Debbie and therefore that was chosen as the album's follow up single. Many books and songs have been written about their well documented problems since the rapper's huge commercial success. Yet surprisingly, the pair's relationship has almost found some pretty positive closure. On the rapper's latest album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, there is a record dedicated to Debbie Mathers, where Eminem continuously apologies for giving her such a hard time and states that he will always love her from afar.
