Before Dr. Dre discovered Eminem and the rapper became a music icon, just like everybody else he would have to push his on CDs and promote his own performances; these were the days before social media made life so easy. In the mid-90s Eminem was doing just that and handed a flyer - promoting a party he was playing at - to ICP member Violent J; including the text 'Appearance from Insane Clown Posse... maybe'. Violent J was irritated that Eminem had used the band's name with no pre-warning, and assured him that the band would not be attending the party. The incident hurt Eminem's pride and the rapper, along with D12, allegedly later chased ICP out of a club and then shot ICP's van with a paintball gun. Not really the gun choice you would usually associate with a rapper, but still, probably more appropriate to fire at men dressed as clowns. ICP didn't really give Eminem the time of day until he blew up and then they started firing diss records his way, including the 'My Name Is' parody 'Slim Anus'. Eminem went at Insane Posse Clown on a couple of tracks and would regularly bring a pair of ICP blow up dolls out on 'The Up In Smoke Tour', put the face of the dolls against his crotch and then thrown them into the crowd.
