Every Beatles Album's Opening Track Ranked From Worst To Best

12. Birthday - The Beatles (Disc 2)

To get a tad cheeky (and to write about The Beatles more), the group’s self-titled 1968 record has been split in two.

The White Album, as it’s known, is the band’s one and only double album, so it’s only fair that it gets twice as many entries on this list. So, without further ado: Birthday.

Kicking off the second disc, is The Beatles’ attempt to crack the holiday market with a song all about, well, birthdays. It’s an incredibly simple blues rock riff repeated over and over again whilst the band members scream over the top about how it’s your birthday, their birthday, everybody’s birthday!

Can you tell that they had discovered drugs by this point?

Even though it’s as complex as a cheese sandwich (with no butter), Birthday has one massive thing going for it - it’s hilarious!

This is clearly The Beatles taking the absolute mick, as is most of The White Album. That's what makes this album so fascinating to listen to.

A joke can go on for too long though, and Birthday isn’t side-splitting enough for it to score any higher than this. Still brilliant, though.
