Every Bob Dylan Album Ranked Worst To Best

21. New Morning (1970)

Following the maligned Self Portrait, Dylan waited just four months to release New Morning.

Returning to his more nasal, traditionally 60s voice and leaving his recent country croon behind, the record finds Dylan grappling with sentimental love songs, humorous stories about romance and a handful of epic historical anecdotes.

The results are an odd mix of remarkably profound tunes and misplaced songs that feel like shoddy leftovers from Self Portrait, but New Morning features Dylan's voice at full-force, as well as the all-time great track Time Passes Slowly, and there's enough heart and emotion there to keep the album afloat.
