Every Bob Dylan Album Ranked Worst To Best

18. Planet Waves (1974)

Bob Dylan's first number one album on the US Billboard charts, Planet Waves features a strong rock sound and a powerful mix of affecting love ballads and dark cautionary tales.

From the suicide-themed Going, Going, Gone to the romantic On A Night Like This, Dylan goes from one extreme to the next, showing off his range with some of his best songs from the 70s.

Though critics took issue with the overall sound of the album and Dylan himself has dismissed some of the songs since its release, Planet Waves is still about as daring, innovative and exciting as anything the singer has ever put out.
