Every Bob Dylan Album Ranked Worst To Best

15. The Basement Tapes (1975)

Recorded back in 1967 but left unreleased for almost a decade, The Basement Tapes spent a long time locked away as a highly anticipated series of original compositions.

When it was released, it miraculously lived up to the hype, featuring such masterclass tunes as Tears Of Rage, This Wheel's On Fire and Goin' To Acapulco. With Dylan's energetic vocal chops at full power, his lyricism shifting effortlessly between wise, confrontational and sweet, it's hard to see The Basement Tapes as anything other than an all-time great record, even if it's still not quite Dylan's best.
