Every Bob Dylan Album Ranked Worst To Best
12. Street-Legal (1978)
The 60s were a time of experimentation and protest for Dylan; the 70s were all about the story.
Street-Legal is without question Dylan's most lyrically and thematically challenging album, characterised by its hefty symbolism, dense lyrics and puzzling stories. It also features a more pop-centred sound than Dylan and his fans were used to, making the whole thing that much harder to comprehend and unpack.
The best song on the album is No Time To Think, a deeply tricky lyrical labyrinth that only Dylan could pull off, but Where Are You Tonight? and Changing Of The Guards are more than enough to cement the record as an overall triumph that has to be heard to be believed.
