Every Green Day Album Opening Song Ranked From Worst To Best

4. Brutal Love - ¡Tré!

The final album in the 2012 trilogy and the whole reason it exists at all is ¡Tré!, which takes its name not only from the Spanish word for three, but also from Green Day's drummer, Tré Cool.

All that hard work for a single pun; hope you're happy, Green Day.

Though it sold the worst out of the trio, ¡Tré! comes out on top in the "Best Opening Song" category with its first track, Brutal Love. Lifting its melody from the Sam Cooke number, Bring It On Home To Me, Brutal Love blends the band's pop punk sound with traditional soul to create a soaring ballad about the highs and lows of romance.

A thoroughly different Green Day opener, this track shows that the band are more than just angry lads thrashing away at guitars; they care about other genres of music too and aren't afraid to borrow from the best.
