Every Green Day Album Opening Song Ranked From Worst To Best

3. Nice Guys Finish Last - Nimrod

Film fans will recognise Nice Guys Finish Last from the 1999 movie Varsity Blues, in which it is prominently featured. Before this, it was the final single, but opening track, on Green Day's 1997 album, Nimrod.

In true pop punk spirit, this song is one big moan at the world, complaining that, despite all their good deeds, the band still find themselves on the losing end of life's trials.

It's got all the best bits of a Green Day single from around this time; a simple, yet effective riff, chuggy bass, tight harmonies, and a general sense that the band don't give a hoot and neither should you.

Nice Guys Finish Last doesn't get as much love as other classic Green Day songs, which is a real shame, as there's a lot to like about this anthem for all the dejected and underappreciated people in the world.
