Every Iron Maiden Album Closing Song Ranked From Worst To Best

7. Empire Of The Clouds - The Book Of Souls

You like long songs, do ya? Well have an 18-minute-long song about the cursed maiden flight of a 1930s British airship! That'll show you!

Empire of the Clouds drops the curtain on 2015's The Book of Souls, beginning with over two minutes of piano and strings. It's only at the four-minute mark that the rest of the band come in, backing Bruce as he sings about the tragic (and real) demise of the R101 craft.

It's wayyyyyyyyyy too long, but there's a lot to admire about Maiden taking such a risk so late into their career. If you have a strong enough attention span, you'll really enjoy this epic re-telling of an obscure historical event.
