Every Iron Maiden Album Closing Song Ranked From Worst To Best

4. The Legacy - A Matter Of Life And Death

Starting with Bruce singing what sounds like a folk song over some finger-picked guitar, The Legacy quickly abandons all sense of serenity in favour of what Maiden do best; all-out guitar carnage.

A Matter of Life and Death from 2006 was almost called The Legacy, which shows how much stock the band put into the song, and it would have been a fitting title to match such a worthy musical climax.

Whilst they are similar in length, tone, and structure, Legacy is just a little bit more action-packed than Hell on Earth; a bit faster, a bit more varied, a bit more exciting. It's a close-run thing, but this one wins the day.
