Every Iron Maiden Album Opening Song Ranked From Worst To Best

4. Tailgunner - No Prayer For The Dying

For the second time on this list, this song is about being a fighter pilot.

Although this time they're sitting at the back of the plane! Such diversity!

Tailgunner opens up proceedings on the album No Prayer for the Dying, the album that gave the band their only UK number one single, Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter.

This first track could easily have been released as a single too, as it's super catchy and easy to get a grip on. Its chorus might be repetitive to a fault, but the rest of the song is tight, cohesive, and nicely structured, making for an experience that blends some of Maiden's heavier elements with their more mainstream.

Now please, no more songs about planes.
