Every Iron Maiden Album Opening Song Ranked From Worst To Best

3. If Eternity Should Fail - The Book Of Souls

Beginning with a slinky combination of low synths, electronic brass, and the rattling of a snake's tail, If Eternity Should Fail from 2015's The Book of Souls wastes no time in making a mark.

Bruce's ethereal vocals soon fill the track, before the rest of the band kick in to back in gargantuan style. This impressive vocal delivery more than match the song's themes of the Earth's creation and, naturally, there's a big shift in tempo towards the middle of the song that keeps things interesting.

Iron Maiden are, inherently, a ridiculous band, so are at their best when they embrace enormous topics and commit to them 100%, and you can't get much more enormous than creation itself.
