Every Iron Maiden Album Opening Song Ranked From Worst To Best

12. Senjutsu - Senjutsu

The band's most recent album to date, Senjutsu was released in 2021 to rave reviews across the board, as Maiden continued their recent run of excellent form.

As for the record's opening track, that sadly did not live up to what came after it.

Senjutsu, taken from a Japanese word meaning strategy, is over eight minutes long, which is nothing new for Maiden, but usually their long songs earn the right to such a girthy runtime.

This track doesn't do that; it's sluggish, repetitive, and it wears out its welcome far too soon. Points are awarded for the elegantly arranged lyrics, but not even fancy words could rescue this opener from failing to excite people for what was to come.
