16. Bulletproof Heart
Given the sheer number of theatrical songs on Danger Days, it's a bit unusual that the low-key, stripped-down Bulletproof Heart was released as a single.
The song is certainly a bop, with a minimalist verse bouncing into a power pop chorus and a showcase of classic rock-style riffs. However, Bulletproof Heart leans a little too much on its influences, and doesn't do as much to advance the alt-rock genre as later songs on this list.
A welcome respite from the excesses of the concept-heavy Danger Days, Bulletproof Heart just doesn't really work too well as a single.
