Every Queen Album Ranked Worst To Best

1. A Night At The Opera

4th studio album (1975); UK #1; US #1

Unpopular opinion: Bohemian Rhapsody, the greatest song ever made, has been ruined by overexposure. Yes, if it comes on at the pub, it's a sure bet that everyone in attendance will make a fool of themselves by trying to hit those impossibly high notes, and that alone speaks to the sheer brilliance and impact of Queen - they managed to make a song that is part of the soundtrack to everyone's life. But let's face it, many of us can't stand to put it on anymore.

Yet, by cleverly tucking their biggest hit at the end of the tracklist to their biggest album, Queen ensured that the song feels earned by the time it comes on - the cherry on top of an otherwise stupendous record, somewhat doomed to live in the shadow of its breakout hit.

The opening track, Death On Two Legs, a scathing diss to a former manager, is one of the band's most ferocious tunes. I'm In Love With My Car, written and sung by Roger Taylor, is much better than its silly title lets on, and should become known to even the most casual of Queen fans. Add to that perennial favourites like You're My Best Friend and Love Of My Life (Queen at their mushiest best), and you've got yourself a killer album, the magnum opus of a legendary career.

Key Tracks: All of the above (yes, even the overplayed one).

Fun Fact: Bohemian Rhapsody is noted for its bizarre lyrics, which seem to border on nonsense, but is in fact an understated coming-out song - ironic, for such an over-the-top number.

Renato hails from Portugal but is obsessed with the US and UK charts, because why not? He also writes books with dozens of protagonists and will be remiss if you can't remember every single one of their names.
