Guns N' Roses: 13 Notorious Incidents You Won't Believe

8. Booting A Slash Fan, Risking Another Riot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK9BkCHdoYQ The Leeds festival in 2002 was one of the largest crowds Guns N' Roses had played to since returning to activity at the turn of the millennium (perhaps the only larger crowd would have been Rock in Rio 3 in 2001). However, the show was not without its issues. Axl Rose, frustrated by a fan holding up a sign that said "Where's Slash" in reference to the band's former guitarist, responded - ironically during the song Patience - that "he's in my a**, f****r go home!" According to some accounts, the fan was then ejected from the venue. This incident actually sparked a trend of fans trying to antagonise to notoriously volatile Rose at future shows, though none really got the same reaction. Later in the night, Rose would also rail against the show's curfew after Guns set ran late, saying "I didn't come all the way to England to be told to go back home by some a*****e! All I've got for the last eight years is s**t after s**t after s**t got in the press, Axl's this, Axl's that... so if you wanna stay, and I wanna stay, we'll see what happens. Everybody... hey, nobody try to get in trouble or anything. Try to have a good time!" Luckily, the band was allowed to stay and continue its set, avoiding a potentially ugly situation.
