Guns N' Roses: 15 Obscure Tracks You've Probably Never Heard
13. Oh My God
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B08EraGPdag Source: End Of Days Soundtrack After the implosion of the Use Your Illusion line-up of Guns N' Roses in the late 90s (Slash quit the band in 1996, rhythm guitarist Gilby Clarke was simply let go, and bassist Duff McKagan called it a day by 1997), not much was heard from the band for a while. Their last bit of output had been a contribution to the soundtrack of 1994's Interview with the Vampire, a cover of the Rolling Stone's Sympathy for the Devil, which had featured a new rhythm guitarist, Paul Tobias (sometimes known as Paul Huge). Huge stuck around for a bit (into the early 2000s), and was there for another soundtrack offering by the band - and their first track post-Slash, entitled Oh My God. It was a decidedly industrial track, giving credit to the rumours that singer Axl Rose wanted a more industrial sound. It would also feature Tommy Stinson on bass (of The Replacements fame, who would go on to be the longest serving bassist of the band, and coincidentally become friends with Duff McKagan) as well as guest guitarists Gary Sunshine and Dave Navarro. It wound up in the film due to the connection Rose and the movie's star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, had from their work on Terminator 2, and with the release of the song, Rose made a rare statement via his record label explaining how the lyrics came to be, saying that they dealt with "the societal repression of deep and often agonizing emotions" He would, however, later state that the song was rushed for the film's release, and should be considered a demo. An updated version was leaked in part in 2013. Although the track was played live a handful of times in 2001, it hasn't been heard in concert since.
